wine glasses
Wine is drunk from glass rather than an opaque vessel because glass
is relatively thin, non-reactive, and allows full appreciation of
the wines appearance. The perfect wine glass has a stem and a bowl
that goes in towards the rim. Wine buffs prefer clear unadorned
glasses.
crystal
Crystal is simply glass with the addition of a small
amount red lead oxide which lends brilliance and clarity. Full lead
crystal is often hand blown, hand cut and etched or engraved. Thin
crystal glasses enhance appreciation of both appearance and bouquet
of the wine.
william yeoward
crystal
William Yeoward glass tableware and decorative pieces, are available
exclusively at The Bay Tree. They are inspired by rare and beautiful
antique shapes such as square or lemon squeezer feet. All these
pieces had to satisfy Yeoward's sense of design and his desire that
they should be beautiful in themselves, functional and make elegant
table settings. Finely
etched and engraved - some are simple, some are ornate. Cut crystal
makes a table sparkle like no other.
The Bay Tree
recommends...
We recommend you start with a water glass, wine glass, champagne
flute and a tumbler. As you expand your range, include sherry, liqueur
and port glasses. A Martini glass is always popular. It's advisable
to purchase at least the same number of glass settings as your dinnerware,
with perhaps a few extra to allow for breakages.
A glass cake
stand/platter and dome are an elegant addition to the table.
